How to Design Slimmer Web Pages

It is important to have a fast loading Web site so visitors don't have to wait for a long time for your Web page to display. Decreasing the amount of time it takes for your web page to load will certainly help in retaining visitors. The need for speed is important in Website downloads.
Always design your pages to load in less than 10 seconds. Remember, bigger is not always better. The maximum size of your pages should not exceed 50Kb, including pictures. Why? Most internet surfers are impatient. They will not wait long for slow web pages to load and will therefore leave your site. This means loss of a potential customer. Surveys indicate that you can lose 1/3 of your customers if your web pages don't load in 10 seconds.
Images, however, add appeal to your Web site. What do you do? Optimize your graphics by reducing the size of the graphics and using fewer colours. There are several programs available for optimizing graphics like photoshop. Make sure you don't reduce the quality of the graphics when reducing file sizes. Reusing graphics on your Web site also helps to keep file sizes small.
If your pages are too large, break them up into several pages. If you have several pictures on one page, use thumbnails on the page with the option of clicking on it for an enlarged picture.
Find ways to minimize the work your reader must do to surf your site. This will make surfing your Web site easy and convenient.
